The Kerinci Regency Government officially started the regional sports festival through the opening of the Simultaneous District Championship (Kejurkab) for all sports branches in 2026. This competition was opened directly by the Regent of Kerinci, Monadi, at the Sigegar Bumi Field, Siulak Panjang Village, Siulak District, on Monday (3/8/2026).
The opening ceremony was lively, starting with a defile parade of hundreds of athletes representing various sports branches. The presence of the athletes and the enthusiasm of the local community who crowded the event location created a festive competitive atmosphere full of a spirit of togetherness.
A number of regional officials also attended this important moment, including the Chief of the Gunung Kerinci Sectoral Police, the leadership ranks of the Kerinci Regency Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD), the management of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of Kerinci, and the Head of Siulak District. The presence of these figures underscores the full cross-sector support for the development of the sports sector in the region.
In his opening speech, Regent Monadi emphasized that the Kejurkab is not just a routine competition, but an important bridge to screen and nurture talented young prospects. He hopes this event can produce high-performing athletes ready to bring honor to the name of Kerinci at regional and national levels.
"Through this championship, we are optimistic that outstanding athletes who can make the region proud will emerge. I also advise all participants to always uphold sportsmanship, maintain discipline, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood during the competition," said Monadi.
Meanwhile, the organizing committee explained that the integration of this simultaneous Kejurkab aims to optimize athlete development from the grassroots level. The final results of this championship will serve as the main database to map potential athletes to be delegated to higher-level sporting events in the future.
