The Government of Gampong Alue Ie Mirah, Indra Makmu Subdistrict, East Aceh Regency, held the inter-hamlet Gampong Sports Week (PORGAM) to commemorate the village's 20th anniversary. This sporting event is designed to strengthen community harmony while serving as a development platform for the youth in the region.
Keuchik (Village Head) of Gampong Alue Ie Mirah, Romi Syahputra, S.H., M.H., explained that this year's PORGAM event carries an important mission. In addition to celebrating two decades since the village's establishment, this event is expected to divert the youth's focus from potential social threats such as drug abuse and the rise of online gambling.
Echoing this sentiment, organizing committee representative Mustafa Ruddin invited all elements of the community to actively participate in making the event a success. He emphasized the importance of upholding the values of sportsmanship so that the entire series of competitions can run in an orderly, safe, and festive manner.
In this special two-decade edition, the committee is hosting five popular sports categories, participated in by official representatives from each hamlet. Apart from serving as public entertainment, the tournament is also expected to identify potential young athletic talent ready to represent the gampong at the subdistrict and regency levels.
