Malikussaleh University (Unimal) has officially started the health examination (Pemkes) series for all new students of the 2026/2027 academic year. This mandatory activity is scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 27, 2026, at the Main Campus Health Clinic in Reuleut, North Aceh.
This examination is designed for the early detection of infectious diseases and to prevent narcotics abuse among students. The service is open every working day, Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 16:00 WIB, with an examination capacity of 200 to 245 students per day.
Head of the Unimal Clinic, dr. Hendra Wahyuni, M.Sc., Sp.P., explained that they have deployed 20 professional medical personnel, including specialists, general practitioners, and nurses. Arriving students are required to bring supporting documents consisting of proof of payment, their admission card, and proof of their examination schedule.
This medical screening is adjusted to the needs of each study program. Medical Study Program students undergo the most comprehensive series of tests, including a general physical exam, eye health, a urine drug test, and a psychological test. Meanwhile, engineering and nursing programs focus on general, eye, and drug examinations, while other majors are required to undergo general tests and drug screening.
Head of the AKPK Bureau at Unimal, Dr. T. Nazaruddin, emphasized the importance of this program as a concrete manifestation of the university's commitment to producing a physically and mentally healthy golden generation of 2045. The campus also offers flexibility by allowing rescheduling through the information center for students unable to attend on their designated date.
Responding to concerns regarding drug test results, Nazaruddin emphasized that students who test positive will not be immediately expelled. Unimal will prioritize a guidance and rehabilitation approach through a close partnership established with the National Narcotics Board (BNN) of Lhokseumawe City.
