The Jambi Provincial Government is strongly committed to continuing to optimize the energy sector as a main pillar in boosting regional economic growth. This commitment was emphasized during the Jambi Province Business Economic Forum (FEB) for the July 2026 period, which took place at the Swiss-Belhotel Jambi on Wednesday (23/7/2026). The event was officially opened by the Regional Secretary of Jambi Province, Sudirman, representing Governor Al Haris.
Carrying the theme of energy sector prospects, the policy direction of the coal Work Plan and Budget (RKAB), and oil and gas lifting targets, this forum serves as a strategic collaborative platform. The local government partnered with Bank Indonesia, academics, business operators, and the banking sector to formulate tactical steps in maintaining Jambi's economic resilience in the second half of 2026.
Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Jambi's economy in the first quarter of 2025 grew by 4.33 percent year-on-year. From this achievement, the electricity and gas procurement business field recorded the highest growth, reaching 13.54 percent. This reinforces the crucial role of the energy sector in driving the region's economic wheel.
In his presentation, Sudirman mentioned that Jambi's energy potential is highly promising. The region's crude oil production throughout 2024 reached around 7.5 million barrels, with a daily average of 20,698 barrels. Meanwhile, coal production for 2025 is projected to reach 15 million tons. Despite the abundant potential, he warned that its governance must prioritize sustainability and environmental preservation.
In addition to looking at opportunities, this forum also served as an evaluation of economic performance in the first and second quarters. Sudirman is optimistic that Jambi's economic growth will remain on a positive track, even though regional inflation is still at 3.85 percent and growth has not yet reached 5 percent. The recommendations arising from this forum are expected to provide concrete solutions to improve the welfare of the people of Jambi in a sustainable manner.
