JAKARTA — Public trust in the administration of President Prabowo Subianto has reportedly experienced a significant decline. The latest findings from the survey institute Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) released on Monday (27/7/2026) indicate a sharp correction in public perception regarding the current national political and economic situation.
SMRC Executive Director Deni Irvani revealed that 42.8 percent of respondents now rate the national political condition as bad or very bad. This figure reflects an increase in negative sentiment among citizens compared to the previous monitoring period.
The downward trend in public appreciation has been particularly striking over the past year. SMRC noted that positive assessments of the national political condition continued to slide, from 35.8 percent in November 2025, shrinking to 27.1 percent in March 2026, and finally free-falling to 13.5 percent in July 2026.
According to Deni, the decline in satisfaction with President Prabowo's performance is closely linked to the public's view of the national economic condition, which is felt to be increasingly burdensome. Unstable political dynamics have also contributed to weakening public trust in the administration's performance.
For information, this public opinion research was conducted between July 5 and 19, 2026. The research methodology involved 749 respondents selected at random to representatively capture public perception.
