A fatal case of violence has shaken the tourist area of Mount Sibayak, Karo Regency. A teenager from Medan City with the initials RCS (17) lost his life after allegedly being the victim of physical abuse at the Jaranguda Forestry Retribution Collection Post, Merdeka District. Police officers moved quickly to detain six people for intensive questioning.

This dark incident, which occurred on Friday (10/7/2026), is currently being investigated in depth by the Karo Police in collaboration with the Berastagi Police. The investigation team has conducted a crime scene investigation (TKP) and set up police lines at two locations strongly suspected of being where the violence took place.

According to the timeline gathered, the victim was rushed to the Efarina Etaham Berastagi Hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, the victim's life could not be saved due to the severe injuries sustained. The victim's body was later evacuated to Bhayangkara Hospital in Medan to undergo a post-mortem examination and autopsy to clarify the exact cause of death.

Rumors circulating near the scene suggest that the victim, known to be a Mount Sibayak hiker, was allegedly accused of stealing items belonging to another hiker a few months ago. The victim was allegedly forced into a public transit vehicle by several retribution officers before being taken to the Jaranguda Post and assaulted.

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Berastagi Police, AKP Mastergun Surbakti, confirmed that a number of witnesses and suspects have been detained. The police have also secured the public transport driver who allegedly transported the victim to clearly uncover the motive and the respective roles of each party.
