The Chairperson of the Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP-PKK) of Tanjungpinang City, Hj. Yuniarni Pustoko Weni, met directly with coastal residents at the Family Planning Counseling Center of Kampung Bugis Sub-district. This visit is part of an innovative program titled PKK Menyapa Pesisir (MENYISIR - PKK Greets the Coast), designed to strengthen basic health services while improving family welfare in coastal areas.
Kampung Bugis Sub-district, which spans an area of 2,500 hectares, is the main focus due to its population of 8,248 people from 2,720 families. According to local service data, this area has 56 pregnant women and 651 elderly residents who require special attention regarding regular promotive and preventive health services.
In her directive, Yuniarni emphasized the importance of synergy between TP-PKK and Posyandu (integrated health post) cadres as the spearhead of community service. She urged the cadres to be more active in the field to conduct early detection of various crucial issues, ranging from monitoring child growth and development, preventing non-communicable diseases such as heart disease and diabetes, to assessing the socio-economic conditions of families.
In addition to monitoring physical health, Yuniarni also highlighted the important role of Dasawisma groups in cultivating Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) as a first-aid health measure for families. On the other hand, she expressed serious concern about the decline of healthy lifestyles among adolescents, which carries the risk of triggering early marriage, believed to lead to new social problems and poverty.
This working visit was also marked by the distribution of food aid and direct visits to the homes of vulnerable residents. Yuniarni visited a pregnant woman nearing her due date and an 80-year-old resident to offer moral support and ensure they receive proper medical assistance from local midwives and community health center (puskesmas) nurses.
