The Jakarta Provincial Government is currently boosting the development of the Jakarta Sport Tourism concept as a new pillar to spur the tourism sector and regional economic growth. This strategic step aims to shift Jakarta's image from being solely known as a business and government hub to becoming an internationally-recognized sports tourism destination in Southeast Asia.

Head of the Jakarta Youth and Sports Department (Dispora), Andri Yansyah, revealed that this program is designed to synergize the organization of sports events with the creative economy, culture, and the utilization of urban service infrastructure. According to him, sports have a significant multiplier effect for various business lines, ranging from hospitality and transportation to support for MSMEs and the culinary industry.

Jakarta is deemed to have a strong competitive advantage to support this ambition. With the availability of international-standard sports facilities, an increasingly integrated public transportation system, and a track record of hosting various major events, the capital city has solid assets to attract the interest of both foreign and domestic tourists.

As a concrete step, the Jakarta Provincial Government plans to compile a busy calendar of sports activities throughout the year. The agenda includes a variety of activities ranging from world-class championships, national competitions, marathons, to traditional sports festivals and student events, which are expected to provide a sustainable economic impact for the community.

Through the integration of sports activities, cultural preservation, and the more optimal utilization of public spaces, Jakarta seeks to strengthen its competitiveness on the global stage. This initiative is projected not only to create competition events, but also to deliver a more colorful travel experience for visitors while solidifying Jakarta's position as a leading sports tourism hub in the region.
