The Kubu Raya Regency Government officially dispatched the contingent of the Indonesian Community Recreation Sports Committee (KORMI) to participate in the II West Kalimantan Provincial Sports Festival (FORPROV). The send-off, led directly by the Vice Regent of Kubu Raya, Sukiryanto, took place solemnly in the courtyard of the Kubu Raya Regent's Office on Friday, July 3, 2026.

In his address, Sukiryanto provided motivation to the athletes, coaches, and officials to perform at their best in the event to be held in Singkawang City from July 5 to 12, 2026. The local government reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to support the development of recreational sports as an effort to improve public health and productivity.

An ambitious target has been set by KORMI Kubu Raya for this year's FORPROV. The Chairman of KORMI Kubu Raya, Sumangel, revealed that his contingent is aiming for a top three finish in the final standings. This target represents a significant improvement from the first FORPROV, where Kubu Raya finished in sixth place out of a total of 14 participating regencies and cities.

This optimism is backed by one month of intensive preparation through a training center. A total of 511 personnel consisting of athletes and officials will compete in 19 recreational sports disciplines. Sumangel highlighted marching drills and drum band disciplines as potential medal mines, referring to previous achievements at the national level.

In closing, KORMI hopes for appreciation from the local government in the form of bonuses for athletes who succeed in bringing honor to the region. This is expected to spark the fighting spirit of the athletes to contribute gold medals in every discipline they participate in during the event.
