Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, emphasized that Indonesia's competitive advantage on the global stage no longer depends solely on the availability of physical infrastructure. Mastery of technology, particularly artificial intelligence and advanced computing, places human resources as the most vital asset in determining the direction of national competitiveness.
During his visit to the Center for Development and Training of Communication and Digital Human Resources (BBLSDM Komdigi) in Medan, Nezar highlighted the need for a paradigm shift. He hopes Indonesia can transform from a mere technology consumer into an active player contributing to the supply chain and creation of global digital innovation.
To achieve this vision, the government is intensifying strategic collaboration with various universities across the country. Campuses are seen as crucial incubators capable of bridging the gap between industry needs and the development of relevant, adaptive digital competencies.
One concrete step being implemented is the 'AI Talent Factory' initiative. This program is designed to distribute access to technology training evenly, both inside and outside Java, to produce talent ready to meet the challenges of the future digital economy.
Nezar added that this talent development is not limited to technical mastery alone. Future digital players are also required to have broad insights into the geopolitics of technology and the changing structure of the global digital economy to navigate global competition more strategically.
