The South Sulawesi Provincial Government continues to intensify concrete efforts to reduce stunting rates down to remote villages. This strategic step was emphasized by the Vice Governor of South Sulawesi, Fatmawati Rusdi, during a working visit as part of the agenda to accelerate stunting reduction in Sakti Urban Village, Bua District, Luwu Regency, on Saturday (4/7/2026).
In her directive, Fatmawati stressed that stunting is not merely a matter of a child's short physical stature, but a serious threat to cognitive development, productivity, and the future quality of human resources. According to her, the family is the front line that ultimately determines success in creating an intelligent generation to welcome Golden Indonesia 2045.
Furthermore, Fatmawati highlighted the importance of a balanced nutritional diet in line with the 'Isi Piringku' concept. She reminded parents not to replace children's primary nutrition with snacks and to immediately seek medical attention at healthcare facilities if recurring health symptoms are found so that treatment can be carried out as early as possible.
As a form of tangible support, the provincial government is committed to providing intensive assistance for 56 days through collaboration between relevant departments, PKK cadres, and healthcare workers. This program is also supported by the distribution of additional nutritional assistance in the form of milk for children showing positive progress during the intervention period.
Beyond health aspects, strengthening household economies was also a focus of the visit. The Vice Governor handed over productive plant seeds such as Musang King durian, Black Thorn durian, avocado, longan, and chili to the community. This step is expected to strengthen family food security while independently enhancing community welfare in Luwu Regency.
