The Serang Regency Government, together with the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), has provided a security guarantee for tourists wishing to spend their holidays in the Anyer and Cinangka coastal areas. This statement was issued in response to the spread of inaccurate information on social media that had sparked public concern regarding the status of Mount Anak Krakatau, which is currently at Level III (Alert).
Deputy Regent of Serang, Muhammad Najib Hamas, ensured that the volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau is observed to be subsiding. After conducting a direct inspection at the Mount Anak Krakatau Observation Post in Pasauran Village, his team emphasized that the situation on the ground is far from dangerous for the coastal tourism sector.
Echoing this, PVMBG officer Deny Mardiono explained that the current danger radius is set only within three kilometers of the eruption center. Meanwhile, popular tourist destinations such as Anyer, Cinangka, and Carita beaches are located 42 kilometers away from the volcano, ensuring they are outside the range of volcanic material impacts.
In addition to clarifying the safe distance, authorities also strongly refuted circulating videos showing a major eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau. The video was declared a hoax and inconsistent with the visual facts recorded by the observation post's CCTV, which showed the volcano remaining relatively stable with thin plumes of smoke.
The public and prospective tourists are urged not to fall easily for unverified rumors. Local authorities request the public to always refer to official information from government channels or the BPBD to ensure data validity before planning vacation activities in the Banten coastal area.
