PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has affirmed that the rising volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau does not disrupt ferry operations on the Merak-Bakauheni route. To date, all sailing schedules in the Sunda Strait are reported to be running smoothly in accordance with established service standards.
General Manager of PT ASDP Bakauheni Branch, Partogi Tamba, stated that the company continues to prioritize safety, security, and passenger comfort in every operational decision. The company is committed to taking no risks, remaining guided by information and intensive coordination with competent authorities, including the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG).
Continuous monitoring of actual conditions on the ground is being conducted to anticipate changes in volcanic activity and weather conditions in the waters of the Sunda Strait. Tamba urged all passengers to remain calm and not be easily provoked by unverified information. Passengers are advised to always monitor official information channels from the government and ASDP to better plan their travel.
This statement follows records from PVMBG reporting 19 eruptions of Mount Anak Krakatau during the period of June to July 2026. Currently, the volcano remains at Level III (Alert) status. ASDP ensures that coordination with various stakeholders will continue to be strengthened to maintain the reliability and safety of this vital crossing route.
