The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) ended the first week of July 2026 with sluggish movement. Based on official data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period of June 29 to July 3, 2026, the index underwent a correction of 0.35 percent and closed at the 5,875.78 level.

The weakening of the main index also impacted the value of the domestic capital market capitalization. IDX Corporate Secretary, Kautsar Primadi Nurahmad, noted that the market capitalization contracted by 0.14 percent, falling to IDR 10,287 trillion from the previous IDR 10,302 trillion at the close of the preceding week.

The sluggish performance of the exchange was clearly visible from the decline in all daily trading activity indicators, which recorded a negative trend. The decline in volume and transaction value, which eroded by more than 3 percent, was a strong indicator of weakening market participant enthusiasm throughout the week.

Nonetheless, there was a slight positive sentiment at the close of Friday's (3/7) trading, where foreign investors began to record a net buy of IDR 6.08 billion. However, this thin buying action was not yet able to offset the massive foreign selling pressure since the beginning of 2026. Year-to-date, foreign investors recorded a net sell reaching IDR 74.42 trillion.
