PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) emphasized that ferry operations on the Merak-Bakauheni route are still running normally as of now. Although Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK) located in the Sunda Strait is showing increased volcanic activity, vessel operations are ensured to continue according to schedule without significant obstacles.
General Manager of PT ASDP Bakauheni Branch, Partogi Tamba, stated that the company continues to prioritize passenger safety and security. ASDP is in intensive coordination with relevant authorities to continuously monitor the development of volcanic activity and weather conditions in the waters.
This proactive monitoring step is taken so that every operational decision can be made quickly and accurately based on actual conditions in the field. ASDP is committed to maintaining the reliability of maritime transportation services amidst the alert status set by the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
The management urges the public to remain calm and not be provoked by unverified information. Ferry service users are advised to always monitor official government information channels or ASDP's official accounts to get the latest updates regarding sailing schedules and conditions.
Previously, the Geological Agency set the status of Mount Anak Krakatau at Level III or Alert (Siaga). Observations showed visual activity in the form of smoke emissions from the crater and recorded seismic activity, so the public and maritime operators are urged to remain vigilant when conducting activities around the area.
