While the infection was previously dominant in warm-climate regions, over the past two decades, similar cases have emerged in cooler-climate countries such as Belgium, Slovakia, and the northern regions of the United States. Experts suspect that rising global temperatures play a significant role in boosting amoeba activity while providing a more favorable environment for the organism's reproduction in new recreational spots.
