The government of Gunung Sugih Sub-district, Ciwandan District, Cilegon City, is taking proactive steps ahead of the annual maintenance (annual shutdown) of PT Asahimas Chemical, scheduled to take place from August 18 to September 14, 2026. The Acting Head of Gunung Sugih Sub-district urges all parties, including industry players and local residents, to collaborate in maintaining environmental order and smooth traffic flow during the maintenance process.
The Acting Head of Gunung Sugih Sub-district, Andi Rustandi, explained that this coordination step is crucial given that the surge in worker mobility and operational vehicles has the potential to trigger traffic congestion and illegal parking. Close synergy between the corporation, the sub-district government, and the residents is expected to minimize social disruptions, ensuring that the daily routines of nearby residents continue in a conducive manner.
In addition to maintaining order, this annual agenda is projected to have a positive economic impact on the surrounding area through community empowerment. The cross-sector meeting agreed to form a consortium integrating local businesses and the local youth organization (Karang Taruna). This collaborative body will be tasked with managing local labor recruitment, facilitating MSMEs, and assisting with security and traffic flow management around the factory area.
Meanwhile, the General Affairs of PT Asahimas Chemical, Idris Ahmad, reaffirmed the company's commitment to minimizing the social impact of these industrial activities. The company deliberately initiated early socialization so that any potential obstacles on the ground could be thoroughly anticipated together with the sub-district government and all community elements to achieve a safe and orderly environment.
