Forest and land fires (karhutla) have once again struck the Mount Biru area, which is part of the Raden Soerjo Grand Forest Park (Tahura) region in Mojokerto. To accelerate response efforts and minimize the spread of hotspots, the Mojokerto Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) immediately formed and deployed two firefighting standby teams to the location.
This tactical step was taken following reports of the expanding burned area in the mountainous region. However, efforts to contain the fire have not been easy. Teams on the ground must face highly steep and rocky terrain, which hinders the mobilization of personnel and firefighting equipment.
Dividing the personnel into two standby teams aims to effectively sweep the hotspots from different directions to localize the fire area. In addition to BPBD personnel, this emergency operation also involves officers from the Raden Soerjo Tahura, several volunteers, and local residents who are working shoulder-to-shoulder to navigate the difficult paths to extinguish the embers.
Until now, joint personnel remain on standby in the field to monitor the situation. The public and tourists are urged not to engage in activities that could trigger sparks, given that dry vegetation and strong winds have the potential to accelerate the spread of the fire.
