The Badung Resort Police (Polres) have tightened security in the Canggu tourist area, which is known to remain active until the early hours of the morning. Through a special program titled "Blue Light Patrol", officers patrolled crowded areas, particularly the nightlife hub around Batu Bolong Beach, to anticipate various forms of social vulnerability and criminal acts.
The preventive patrol, which took place in the early hours of Monday (27/7/2026), was led by personnel from the Turjawali Unit of the Badung Police's Samapta Unit. Driving tactical patrol cars and equipped with body-worn cameras, the team combed through routes prone to street crime, including anticipating theft with aggravating circumstances (curat), violent theft (curas), and motor vehicle theft (curanmor).
In addition to mobile patrols, the officers also engaged in direct dialogue with local security guards and the local traditional security force (pecalang). This synergy was established to strengthen community-based security surveillance while exchanging information regarding potential security disruptions in the Badung jurisdiction.
Representing the Chief of Badung Police, AKBP Joseph Edward Purba, the Head of the Samapta Unit of the Badung Police, AKP I Made Mangku Bunciana, explained that the police presence during vulnerable hours aims to provide peace of mind for both local residents and foreign tourists. They emphasize a preventive and collaborative approach to ensure the tourism ecosystem remains conducive.
Until the patrol concluded, conditions in the Canggu area were reported to be safe and orderly with no significant incidents. The police also urged the public to immediately report any suspicious activity in their surroundings through the emergency hotline.
