Hundreds of sports enthusiasts from various backgrounds packed the area of Bhayangkara Run 2026, organized by the East Kutai Police. The event served as one of the main highlights in commemorating the 80th Bhayangkara Day, carrying the grand theme '80 Years of Service, Polri for the Community'.
Public enthusiasm for this running event was extremely high. Although online registration recorded 652 official participants, the number of people attending on the ground surged to 850. Participants came not only from within East Kutai, but also from neighboring cities such as Samarinda and Bontang, creating a competitive and inclusive event.
Deputy Chief of East Kutai Police, Police Commissioner Ahmad Abdullah, explained that the event was not merely a competition to achieve accolades, but a strategic effort to bring the Indonesian National Police closer to the public. According to him, running, which has become a healthy lifestyle choice for residents, should be supported to build positive spaces for interaction.
"We view this momentum as an effective space for togetherness. We hope the synergy between the police, local government, and sports communities remains strong to support regional development," said Police Commissioner Ahmad Abdullah on the sidelines of the event, Sunday (28/6/2026).
The presence of members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and various stakeholders at the event further underlined support for local athlete development. The success of runners from outside the area in reaching the podium also proved that the Bhayangkara Run has become a prestigious sporting event recognized regionally.
