Geely Auto Indonesia has given a strong signal regarding the pricing policy direction for its latest compact SUV, the Geely Coolray. Instead of following the stereotype of Chinese vehicles being synonymous with low prices, this manufacturer chooses to highlight aspects of technology, comfort, and performance as its main selling points.

Sales and Channel Development Director of Geely Auto Indonesia, Constantinus Herlijoso, emphasized that the presence of the Coolray is not merely to disrupt market prices with a cheap price tag. His party is committed to presenting vehicles that offer value for money through modern features and high safety standards for domestic consumers.

This assertion indicates that the Geely Coolray will not be positioned in the entry-level segment. In terms of specifications, this compact SUV is armed with a 1,500 cc turbocharged engine paired with a 7-Speed Wet Dual-Clutch (7DCT) transmission. This powertrain configuration is capable of pumping out maximum power of up to 174 PS and peak torque of 290 Nm, positioning it as a serious challenger to the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Creta, Mitsubishi Xforce, and Toyota Yaris Cross.

Certainty regarding the official price of the Coolray is scheduled to be launched at the opening of the GIIAS 2026 automotive exhibition on July 29. Nonetheless, interested consumers can already make pre-bookings at official Geely dealerships by paying a booking fee of IDR 5 million.

This booking scheme is designed to facilitate consumers before conducting a test drive directly after the official launch. As an illustration, in the Malaysian market, the Coolray's twin, which is marketed under the name Proton X50, is priced starting from RM89,800 or equivalent to around IDR 393 million.
