The National Handicraft Council (Dekranas) has emphasized the importance of digital transformation for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the craft sector. This step is seen as a crucial strategy to remain relevant to the market tastes of the younger generation, who now dominate the consumption of domestic products.
Secretary General of Dekranas, Reni Yanita, stated that technology integration, particularly through the use of social media and marketplace platforms, has proven to be an effective marketing channel. By adopting the digital ecosystem, business actors can bridge the communication and preference gap between traditional craft products and the modern lifestyle of young people.
Furthermore, the dominance of digital transactions in Indonesia is a strong signal that the craft sector must not lag behind in promotional innovation. Through a technology-based approach, Dekranas is optimistic that local MSMEs can compete and maintain their existence amid increasingly competitive and fast-paced market dynamics.
