Indomobil Group, through Changan Indonesia, has officially strengthened the eco-friendly vehicle market in the country by launching its latest electric SUV, the Changan Deepal S05. This vehicle marks a new milestone as the first electric SUV in Indonesia to offer two electrification system options simultaneously in a single model: pure Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Range Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV).

This strategic move was taken to provide limitless flexibility for urban consumers as well as those who frequently travel intercity. CEO of Changan Indonesia, Setiawan Surya, emphasized that the presence of the REEV variant is a concrete answer to public concerns regarding range anxiety and charging infrastructure readiness, while the BEV variant targets consumers who want fully zero-emission mobility.

Unlike conventional hybrid systems, the REEV technology in the Deepal S05 relies on a 1,500 cc gasoline engine that functions purely as a generator to supply power to the battery, rather than driving the wheels directly. As a result, drivers can still experience the instant and quiet driving sensation characteristic of electric cars, but with a much longer cumulative range of over 1,100 kilometers.

From a visual aspect, this SUV adopts a futuristic design language called 'Symbiotic Aesthetics', which won the 2025 iF Design Award in Germany. Its exterior design is aerodynamic with a very low drag coefficient (0.25 Cd), supported by premium details such as electric hidden door handles, frameless doors, and 18-inch wheels that emphasize its sporty impression.

Stepping into the cabin, passengers are treated to a spacious room thanks to a wheelbase of 2,880 mm. The interior control center is dominated by a 15.4-inch 'Sunflower Screen' interactive touchscreen with 2.5K resolution, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, which has a unique ability to rotate up to 15 degrees. The luxury of the cabin is further completed with a 1.9-square-meter panoramic glass roof, a 14-speaker audio system, and Indonesian voice assistant integration.

Both variants are built on Changan's advanced EPA1 architecture with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) system. The BEV variant is equipped with a 200 kW electric motor, offering a range of up to 470 km (NEDC method). Meanwhile, the REEV variant combines a 160 kW electric motor with a gasoline generator for a total range of over 1,100 km, of which 170 km can be traveled purely on electric energy. Both models are also equipped with 3C fast-charging technology capable of charging the battery from 30 to 80 percent in less than 20 minutes.

Safety is a priority, with a five-star rating from Euro NCAP thanks to the use of a high-strength steel structure and comprehensive ADAS active safety features. In addition, a 6 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature is included to supply electricity to external devices in emergencies. To provide peace of mind for consumers, Changan Indonesia offers a battery warranty of up to 8 years or 240,000 km, supported by a network of 23 official dealers across major cities.
