The Social Forestry Community Movement (Gema PS) of West Java held a strategic meeting with Perum Perhutani Regional Division for West Java and Banten on Wednesday (1/7/2026). This audience aimed to align the implementation of Special Management Forest Area (KHDPK) management in Garut Regency, in accordance with the latest regulatory mandates in force.
Head of Perum Perhutani Regional Division for West Java and Banten, Yudha Suswardhanto, emphasized the importance of adhering to legal corridors in every step of managing state forests. According to him, all forms of operational cooperation must comply with laws down to Ministerial Regulations to ensure transparency and accountability of state assets during the management transition period.
The Garut Regency Gema PS highlighted the significant economic potential of pine stands in the KHDPK area spread across 183 villages. Chairman of the Garut Regency Gema PS DPC, Ganda Permana, hopes local communities will be given space to be directly involved in managing pine resin tapping as strategic partners of Perhutani.
Responding to this, Deputy Head of Perum Perhutani Regional Division for West Java and Banten, Agus Yulianto, stated that partnership models remain open as long as they comply with provisions outlined in MoEF Regulation No. 4 of 2023 and No. 9 of 2021. He referenced the success of a similar scheme in Tasikmalaya that involved forest farmer groups as a legal collaboration model.
As a follow-up step, Gema PS plans to strengthen coordination with the Social Forestry Agency and the West Java Provincial Forestry Service. This community empowerment process is expected to create sustainable synergy, prioritizing administrative compliance and institutional readiness before the official cooperation contract is signed.
