The Southeast Maluku Regency Government is finalizing preparations for organizing public viewings (nobar) of the 2026 World Cup. Unlike typical entertainment events, this initiative is strategically designed to serve as a driving force for the people's economy, benefiting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.

During a coordination meeting led directly by the Regent of Southeast Maluku, Muhammad Thaher Hanubun, in Langgur on Thursday (25/6/2026), the government emphasized that this international football event must deliver tangible economic impacts. A dedicated area at the Southeast Maluku Multipurpose Building has been prepared to accommodate business operators so they can market their flagship products to spectators.

Regent Thaher stressed that the World Cup momentum presents a golden opportunity to promote local products while increasing the turnover of creative economy players. In addition to broadcasting matches from the round of 32 to the final, the event will feature a music stage showcasing local talent to enrich the creative economy ecosystem in Southeast Maluku.

The success of this plan is supported by cross-sector synergy involving Bank Maluku Malut as the main sponsor, along with technical support from RRI Langgur, the Communication and Information Department, PT PLN, and Telkomsel. This collaboration aims to ensure smooth connectivity, a stable power supply, and adequate broadcast quality for the public.

As a gesture of appreciation for attending residents, the committee is providing various attractive door prizes to be drawn throughout the event series, with the grand prize reserved for the night of the final. This initiative reflects the commitment of the Southeast Maluku Regency Government to creating public activities that are not only entertaining, but also inclusive and sustainable for community welfare.
