The 2026 Kapolri Cup badminton tournament makes new history in the national sports world by introducing a special category for athletes with disabilities. This step by the Indonesian National Police (Polri) received high appreciation from the National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia (NPC Indonesia) as a concrete manifestation of support for equality and inclusivity in sports.
Secretary General of NPC Indonesia, Ukun Rukaendi, expressed that this policy is an important milestone for athletes with disabilities. For the first time, a police institution is providing a national-scale competition space for them, while also giving equal recognition to the potential of paralympic athletes.
The competition, scheduled to take place in Jakarta from July 27 to August 1, 2026, will feature six events. A total of 70 best athletes from ten provinces in Indonesia are confirmed to participate, including several pillars of the national team currently preparing for the 2026 Asian Para Games.
Top athletes such as Leani Ratri Oktila, Khalimatus Sadiyah, Qonitah Ikhtiar Syakuroh, Subhan, and Hikmat Ramdani are confirmed to represent their respective regions. Requiring high standards, all competing participants are selected athletes who have passed the official classification process, both at national and international levels.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Public Relations and Documentation Section of the 2026 Kapolri Cup Badminton, Police Inspector General Ahmad Ramadhan, emphasized that this collaboration with NPC Indonesia is clear evidence of the police's commitment to facilitating the achievements of people with disabilities. The tournament, held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Bhayangkara (Bhayangkara Day), also features an internal category for the National Police as well as a general category in collaboration with PBSI.
