Amid the rapid acceleration of digital transformation, technological innovation is now required to possess not only functional sophistication but also strong ethical integrity. Tri Rochmadi, a lecturer in the Department of Information Systems at Alma Ata University, emphasized that developers hold a crucial moral responsibility when designing systems that directly touch people's lives, ranging from the healthcare sector to government.
According to Tri, technologies based on artificial intelligence and big data processing often hide hidden risks, such as algorithmic bias and personal data vulnerabilities. He highlighted that developers are frequently caught in a dilemma between business efficiency demands and the obligation to protect user rights. Therefore, developers must not be oriented solely toward technical aspects; instead, they are required to apply principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability in every workflow.
Four crucial issues have been identified as basic ethical standards in current information systems development. First, privacy protection, which demands transparency in data collection. Second, strengthening cybersecurity to build public trust. Third, mitigating algorithmic bias that could trigger discrimination. Finally, system transparency, which grants users the right to understand how digital decisions are made.
As a long-term solution, Tri encourages integrating digital ethics education early on in university studies. In addition, technology development organizations need to foster a work culture that prioritizes professional codes of ethics over production speed. With a human-centered design approach, technology is expected to become a tool that genuinely delivers inclusive added value without disregarding the protection of users' fundamental rights.
