The issue regarding the presence of nightlife entertainment venues in Tegal City became a sharp focus during the Plenary Meeting of the Tegal City Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) held on Monday, July 6, 2026. In the agenda for presenting general faction views regarding the 2025 Regional Budget (APBD) accountability, two major factions, the Golkar Party and PKS, openly criticized the entertainment business licensing policy, which they deemed in need of evaluation.
Spokesperson for the Golkar Party Faction, Enny Yuningsih, emphasized that the local government must be more selective in issuing business permits. Her side highlighted the location of entertainment venues considered unideal because they are directly adjacent to residential areas and educational environments, including Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren). According to Golkar, the orientation toward increasing Regional Original Revenue (PAD) should not disregard social order and community comfort.
Echoing Golkar, the PKS Faction, through its spokesperson Erni Ratnani, urged the Tegal City Government to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of investment policies. PKS emphasized that every business permit must align with local wisdom and prevailing social norms, rather than merely chasing investment figures.
Furthermore, the PKS Faction encouraged the government to be more proactive in conducting transparent social impact assessments before issuing permits. They demanded government firmness in ensuring that every entertainment business operator complies with zoning regulations and established laws to maintain city stability and order.
