Persebaya Surabaya management is strengthening its preparations for the 2026-2027 Super League season by transforming its approach to player physical monitoring. The club, known as Bajol Ijo, has officially implemented VALD Performance technology, an advanced system that serves as standard operating procedure across elite English Premier League clubs.
Persebaya CEO, Azrul Ananda, emphasized that this move represents the club's effort to move away from conventional physical testing methods. By integrating a system proven in the European arena, Persebaya is committed to building a more scientific and consistent team foundation for medium and long-term needs.
This technology is actually the result of a strategic collaboration with DBL Indonesia, initiated last year through the DBL Camp program. Now, the system has been fully adopted into Persebaya's professional football ecosystem, complementing other supporting facilities such as the independent gym under the Persebaya Academy.
Persebaya's Chief Medical Officer, dr. Pratama Wicaksana Widjaja, Sp.OT(K), explained that the use of this equipment is part of a comprehensive medical procedure. Players cleared clinically healthy after a series of hospital checks will subsequently undergo functional movement assessments to generate accurate quantitative data.
The integration of this technology puts Persebaya one step ahead, as the daily monitoring system has been operational since the preseason. With more objective and precise data, the coaching staff is expected to make decisions and player selections aligned with the club's tactical philosophy in the future.
