The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, has officially tendered her resignation from her position to focus on health recovery. This decision was made after Nanik personally bid farewell to President Prabowo Subianto to undergo heart treatment abroad.
The information regarding her resignation was confirmed by the President's Special Assistant for Communication and Policy, Dirgayuza Setiawan, in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7/2026). Although her leadership term was brief, lasting about one and a half months, Nanik is credited with laying a strong foundation of reform within the newly established agency.
During her tenure leading the BGN, Nanik carried out a major overhaul of the institution's governance. Her strategic measures included evaluating nearly 28,000 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) and conducting quality classification for around 3,000 program kitchens. In addition, she halted the expansion of new kitchen construction in areas deemed saturated to ensure operational efficiency.
Nanik's decisiveness was also reflected in the discovery of 414 problematic SPPG units, which successfully saved hundreds of billions of rupiah in state budget funds. To strengthen supervision, she established 11 reform teams and involved professionals from various ministries to ensure the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program is on target.
Despite stepping down from her structural position, Nanik stated that she will continue to support the government's progress. President Prabowo is also reported to plan the formation of a special supervisory board to monitor the implementation of the national nutrition program, with projections to appoint Nanik as the head of the supervisory board once her recovery period is complete.
