Madiun City is increasingly cementing its position as a leading sport tourism destination through the successful hosting of various prestigious cycling races. One of the latest events drawing attention is the KAI Ngebel KOM 2026, which successfully attracted hundreds of cyclists from all over the country and abroad to the "City of Warriors" (Kota Pendekar).
The event, which took place in early August, covered a total distance of 75.5 kilometers, starting with exploring the beauty of Madiun City before finishing at Lake Ngebel, Ponorogo. In collaboration with Mainsepeda as the organizer, the competition was attended by around 500 cyclists representing 210 communities from 89 cities and 20 provinces in Indonesia. The appeal of this competition even extended globally, with participation from seven countries, including Australia, France, Colombia, Germany, the Netherlands, and China.
The Chairman of the Indonesian Sport Cycling Association (ISSI) of Madiun City, Faizal Rachman, expressed his highest appreciation to the Madiun City Government for its full support of the development of cycling sports. According to Faizal, the collaboration and commitment of the local government are the main pillars behind the success of these major events, including the cycling agenda titled Discovery Bike 2026, which was also successfully held previously.
In addition to having a positive impact on the local tourism sector, the rise of these quality cycling events provides a competitive advantage for local athletes trained by ISSI Madiun City. The presence of world-class cyclists in their own city is a golden opportunity for local athletes to hone their skills, gain experience, and build their competitive mindset without having to travel far.
