Mount Semeru, located in Lumajang Regency, East Java, has once again shown volcanic activity on Friday (3/7). According to the latest monitoring, the highest mountain on the island of Java spewed a column of ash reaching a height of 1,300 meters above the peak.
Although the eruption intensity is quite significant, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lumajang Regency confirmed that this event had no direct impact on residential settlements around the foot of the mountain.
Nevertheless, authorities continue to ask all members of the community on the mountain slopes to increase their vigilance. This refers to Mount Semeru's status, which remains at the Alert level.
Residents are advised to always follow directions from local disaster authorities and stay away from the designated red zone to avoid unwanted risks due to fluctuating volcanic activity.
