The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Authority (TNBTS) has officially issued a temporary closure policy for all access trails to Mount Semeru. This step is taken to accommodate and respect the sacredness of the Hari Raya Karo celebration held by the Tengger indigenous community.
According to official announcement number PG.16/T.8/TU/HMS.01.08/B/07/2026, hiking activities will be suspended for 12 days, from August 7 to August 18, 2026. This decision was taken in response to a formal request from the Ranupani Village Government to maintain a peaceful environment during the religious ritual period.
The management emphasized that the deadline for climbing activities falls on Thursday, August 6, 2026. All hikers within the mountain area must descend and leave the climbing area no later than Friday, August 7, 2026, at 16:00 WIB. Access to the summit will reopen to the public on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
For prospective hikers who already hold tickets for the closure period, TNBTS provides a rescheduling facility. The details regarding the process will be communicated directly to group leaders via WhatsApp using the contact number registered on the official booking system at bromotenggersemeru.id.
