As part of its 58th Anniversary celebrations, BPJS Kesehatan organized a 5.8-kilometer fun run at the campus of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya, on Sunday (12/7/2026). This event served as a momentum for the institution to advocate the importance of a healthy lifestyle as an investment for the future.
President Director of BPJS Kesehatan, Prihati Pujowaskito, emphasized the urgency of physical activity amid shifting trends in chronic diseases. According to him, hypertension and diabetes are no longer threats exclusive to the elderly, but are increasingly affecting productive age groups or the younger generation.
Prihati urged that exercise should not merely be a temporary ceremonial activity, but a routine practiced at least three to four times a week. He stated that preventive measures through maintaining physical fitness are far more effective and cost-efficient than bearing the burden of medical treatment for chronic diseases later in life.
ITS Rector, Prof. Bambang Pramujati, welcomed this initiative positively and viewed the campus environment as an ideal ecosystem to instill a culture of healthy living. He hopes the enthusiasm generated by this event can serve as a catalyst for the academic community to maintain their health through consistent physical activities.
Furthermore, Prof. Bambang expressed appreciation for the synergy between ITS and BPJS Kesehatan in health protection. Beyond ensuring that most students are enrolled in the National Health Insurance (JKN) program, the campus also integrates its Medical Center services with the BPJS Kesehatan system to provide optimal medical access for the campus community.
