Bank Indonesia reported a contraction in the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) during the June 2026 period. Latest data shows the CCI stood at 117.8, representing a 3.1-point correction from the May 2026 position of 120.9.

Despite the decline, the monetary authority emphasized that public confidence in the national economic condition generally remains intact. Considering the reference score of 100 as the neutral point, the index score of 117.8 proves that domestic consumers remain in the optimistic zone regarding future economic prospects.

Executive Director of Bank Indonesia's Communication Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, explained that this weakening was influenced by declines in two main indicators: the Consumer Expectations Index (CEI), which fell to 126.4, and the Current Economic Conditions Index (CECI), which stood at 109.2.

Spatial analysis shows that the most significant drop in consumer confidence occurred in the regions of Makassar, Banten, and Medan. Additionally, demographically, most age groups recorded a decline in optimism, except for the 51–60 age group, which actually experienced an increase in economic confidence.

In terms of household consumption patterns, the survey recorded a shift in behavior. The proportion of income allocated for consumption increased to 73 percent, while the shares allocated for savings and debt installment payments recorded a slight decrease compared to the previous month.
