Healthcare innovation has achieved another proud milestone through the work of Dr. Choirul Anam, S.Si., M.Si., F.Med., a medical computational physics expert from Diponegoro University (UNDIP). He successfully developed a software named IndoQCT, an image quality control system for CT scan technology with capabilities surpassing similar devices made in the United States and France.

CT scan technology is a crucial instrument in the medical world requiring a precise balance between image quality and radiation dose. Dr. Anam explained that the optimization process is vital to ensuring doctors obtain clear medical images for diagnosis while minimizing patient exposure to ionizing radiation. Through IndoQCT, this process becomes far more efficient, automated, and objective compared to the manual methods used so far.

The main advantage of IndoQCT lies in its ability to thoroughly analyze image quality parameters, including the objective detectability index, without being tied to a specific instrument brand. This flexibility makes the software an invaluable tool for medical physics practitioners worldwide. Indeed, the effectiveness of this innovation has been globally recognized, with over 90 countries downloading and utilizing the system.

Dr. Anam emphasized that the success of this research is not merely about scientific publication, but rather a dedication to providing real-world solutions to field problems. Driven by a determination not to feel inferior amidst the technology dominance of developed nations, he proved that Indonesian scientists have the capacity to transform from mere users into creators of world-class technology.

Currently, IndoQCT can be accessed openly by researchers, lecturers, and healthcare practitioners via an online platform. The success of this research, led by a figure listed among the top 2% of World Scientists, is expected to inspire young Indonesian researchers to consistently innovate for the benefit of the global community.
