The peak of Jakarta's 499th anniversary celebration officially concluded after running for two days on June 27–28, 2026. The event, centered around the Bundaran HI area, served as a moment of reflection on the capital's long journey while marking the first step toward its golden age of 500 years in 2027.
The vibrant atmosphere of the people's festival was further amplified as top musicians such as Padi Reborn, Mahalini, Adrian Khalif, and Cici Paramida performed on a grand stage. Beyond music performances, the event also captivated residents with a lighting show, video mapping, and the unveiling of the official logo leading up to Jakarta's five centuries, symbolizing a spirit of collaboration.
Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, stated that this series of celebrations represents the government's appreciation for the public's active participation in building the city. He emphasized that synergy between the government and citizens serves as the main foundation for turning Jakarta into an inclusive global city that brings happiness to its residents.
High enthusiasm was also shown by attending residents, including students from Satya Negara Indonesia University, Aura and Safia. They commended the quality of the event's organization, which they felt provided high-quality entertainment space alongside well-managed public facilities.
Entering the second day, the celebration continued under the theme 'Colorful Jakarta'. The activities highlighted diversity through a giant balloon parade, a collaboration between traditional gambang kromong art and ballet, and creative waste management initiatives. Vice Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno, described the 'five fingers' philosophy of the celebration as a symbol of unity among elements of society in welcoming Jakarta's 500th anniversary.
As a commitment from the government to deliver an inclusive celebration, the Jakarta Provincial Government also facilitated public mobility. During the festivities, residents enjoyed a special fare of Rp1 for Transjakarta, MRT, and LRT services, as well as free admission to various regional government-owned tourism and sports facilities.
