Hong Kong-based multinational conglomerate Jardine Matheson has officially appointed Christopher Ganis as its new Head of Indonesia. This strategic move is seen as an effort by the company to strengthen its foothold and expand its investment portfolio in Indonesia's growing market.

Effective July 1, 2026, Ganis will not only lead Jardine Matheson's operations in Indonesia but will also assume responsibilities as Managing Director of Investments. The appointment reflects a transition in Jardine Matheson's business model, which is now more oriented toward an aggressive investment strategy targeting high-potential sectors.

Currently, Jardine Matheson's presence in Indonesia is dominated by its stake in automotive giant PT Astra International Tbk through its subsidiary, Jardine Cycle & Carriage. Given the significant profit contribution from the automotive, heavy equipment, mining, and financial services sectors, the new leadership is expected to optimize the performance of these assets.

Prior to joining Jardine Matheson, Christopher Ganis built a proven track record in the investment world. He previously served as Co-Chief Investment Officer (Co-CIO) at the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) since 2025. His professional career also includes a key position as Head of Private Credit Indonesia at global investment management firm BlackRock.
