The search for MDR (30), a resident of Penanjan Hamlet, Paciran Village, Lamongan Regency, who had been reported missing since mid-July, ended in tragedy. The victim's body was found at the bottom of the Mount Kendil ravine on Thursday morning (23/7), after he had been missing for eight days.
The discovery began with the suspicion of a grass cutter who passed through the Mount Kendil area the day before. The witness smelled a very strong, unpleasant odor coming from the ravine. This information was then passed on to the victim's family, who suspected that the smell came from MDR, who had not returned home.
Upon receiving the report, police officers from the Paciran Police, along with a team of volunteers and the victim's family, immediately searched the location on Thursday morning. The search process was led directly by the Paciran Police Chief, Iptu Abdul Ghufron. The team finally managed to find the victim's body deep in the ravine and immediately evacuated it.
After being successfully retrieved from the bottom of the ravine, MDR's body was taken to the Paciran Health Center (Puskesmas) for an external post-mortem examination. The Public Relations Section Head of the Lamongan Police, Ipda M Hamzaid, confirmed that there were no signs of physical violence on the victim's body. He is strongly suspected to have died from a fall of approximately 12 meters.
According to the family, the victim was known to have a history of depression and had previously attempted suicide. The victim's family refused a further autopsy and chose to bury the body immediately. In connection with this incident, the police urge the public to immediately report if any family member goes missing so that the handling process can be carried out quickly.
