The Tanjungpinang City Government is exploring opportunities for strategic collaboration with the Dutch energy company, ODC Energy, to address domestic waste issues. The Mayor of Tanjungpinang, H. Lis Darmansyah, S.H., received a follow-up audience from ODC Energy representatives to discuss the planned implementation of waste-to-energy technology in the region.
The meeting, which took place in the Mayor's office, was also attended by ODC Energy's Managing Business Development, Runa, and the owner of Harvest Waste Amsterdam, Jan Harkema. The presence of Harvest Waste Amsterdam represents ODC Energy's step in partnering with a technology provider experienced in converting waste into electricity resources, adopting an integrated system successfully implemented in Amsterdam.
To ensure the operational sustainability of this technology, the proposed concept does not only cover Tanjungpinang City, but also integrates waste management with Bintan Regency. By combining the waste supply from both regions, the operational capacity of the processing facility is expected to run at maximum and more efficiently.
Mayor Lis Darmansyah welcomed the eco-friendly initiative. According to him, urban environmental management requires innovative solutions and cross-regional collaboration. Lis emphasized full support for the regional cooperation concept involving Tanjungpinang City, Bintan Regency, and the Batam Free Trade Zone Authority (BP Batam) for the benefit of the wider community.
As a concrete follow-up to the meeting, the Tanjungpinang City Government will soon conduct an in-depth technical study with the investors. Intensive coordination with the Bintan Regency Government and BP Batam will also be conducted to discuss regulatory certainty, land provision, supporting infrastructure, and investment cooperation schemes.
