The Bhabinkamtibmas of the East Purwokerto Police Sector, Banyumas City Police, synergized with health workers from the East Purwokerto II Community Health Center (Puskesmas) to assist in tracing close contacts of a Tuberculosis (TB) patient with the initials MP (38). This preventive measure took place in East Purwokerto District, Banyumas, on Saturday (18/7/2026).
Led by Bhabinkamtibmas Aiptu Fredy Kristianto and Midwife Iffah from the local Puskesmas, the joint team visited the patient's residence and their family. This collaborative effort aims to detect potential new cases early, while breaking the chain of TB transmission within the family and the surrounding community.
In addition to escorting the contact tracing process, the police officers also provided important education regarding the discipline of taking medication regularly until declared completely cured. The patient and their family were urged to always wear masks and implement a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS) to accelerate physical recovery.
The Chief of East Purwokerto Police, Police Commissioner Wiwid Hartono, representing the Chief of Banyumas City Police, Senior Commissioner Petrus P. Silalahi, emphasized that the active involvement of the police is concrete evidence of the National Police's commitment to the success of national health programs. The role of Bhabinkamtibmas is now not only limited to the security sector, but also touches on the aspect of citizens' health welfare.
Through this cross-sectoral collaboration, it is hoped that public awareness of the dangers and prevention of TB can increase significantly. The entire series of activities reportedly ran safely, orderly, and smoothly, strengthening the joint commitment to realize a Banyumas region free from the threat of tuberculosis.
