The Timika Sunset Run 2026 event was not only a sporting stage for the community, but also a platform to showcase the creativity of local youth. Jeverson Ferre, a videographer from the online media outlet Salampapua.com, successfully clinched first place in the creative video competition initiated by the Mimika Regency Department of Population and Civil Registration (Disdukcapil).
Jeverson's video was judged by the jury to have successfully visualized the harmony between the spirit of sports, community togetherness, and the beautiful tourism potential of Mimika Regency. Under the leadership of the Regent of Mimika, Johannes Rettob, the local government continues to encourage activities that combine tourism promotion and a healthy lifestyle.
While opening the event at the courtyard of the Mimika Disdukcapil Office, Regent Johannes Rettob expressed his deep appreciation for the creative contributions of the participants. He emphasized that visual works from the younger generation are important and effective instruments for introducing the region's wealth to a wider audience.
Johannes added that the momentum of the Timika Sunset Run must be optimally utilized to build a positive image of Mimika through cross-sector collaboration involving sports, art, culture, and tourism. Furthermore, he invited the community to welcome the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia by strengthening the spirit of mutual cooperation to realize a clean, advanced, and competitive Mimika.
Similar appreciation came from the Editor-in-Chief of Salam Papua, Sampe Sianturi, who hopes that Jeverson's achievement will trigger the birth of new inspiring works in the future. Meanwhile, second place in this creative video competition was achieved by Muhamad Arikoti Sopri, followed by Melodi Karubaba in third place.
