A traffic accident occurred on the Padang-Solok Highway, specifically in the Jorong Linjuang Koto Tinggi area, Solok Regency, on Sunday afternoon (12/7/2026). The unfortunate incident, involving two motorcycles, resulted in three riders requiring intensive care at the hospital.

Solok Police Traffic Unit Chief, Police Inspector (IPTU) Rido, confirmed that the accident occurred during drizzling weather. The incident began when a Yamaha Mio J motorcycle ridden by M. Riko Setyawan (25) was traveling from Padang toward Solok. While attempting to overtake the vehicle in front of him, the rider lost control due to the slippery asphalt, causing the vehicle to drift into the oncoming lane.

At the same time, a Honda Scoopy motorcycle ridden by Aqilah Rihadatul Aisyan (24) with passenger Dilla Aulia Syafira (22) appeared from the opposite direction. A severe collision between the two vehicles was inevitable. As a result of this incident, M. Riko Setyawan sustained serious injuries, including a broken right hand and left leg, while the other two riders suffered scratches and bruises.

All victims have been evacuated to Kayu Aro Regional General Hospital (RSUD) for further medical treatment. The Solok Police Traffic Unit has conducted a crime scene investigation and secured both motorcycles as evidence for a more thorough investigation. The police remind the public to always be cautious when driving in wet road conditions.

Regarding this incident, the police have recorded the chronology in Police Report number LP/A/72/VII/2026/SPKT/SATLANTAS/POLRES SOLOK/POLDA SUMBAR. The rider suspected of causing the accident now faces potential charges under Article 310 paragraph (2) of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation.
