The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has officially announced that it will enforce strict regulations on all Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage travel organizers, including the Hajj and Umrah Guidance Groups (KBIHU). This measure is taken in response to the rampant practice of religious commodification, which is considered detrimental to the public.
Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, emphasized that the government is committed to stopping all forms of business activities that do not align with their proper function. This directive follows instructions from President Prabowo Subianto, who desires that the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages maintain their sacredness and not be turned into commercial objects by irresponsible parties.
Dahnil highlighted that KBIHU should focus on their role of assisting and guiding pilgrims, rather than running deviant business practices. Furthermore, travel agencies and Special Hajj Pilgrimage Organizers (PIHK) are also urged to operate with high standards of honesty, particularly regarding the management of pilgrims' funds.
To provide maximum protection, the Ministry plans to strengthen the supervisory system across all operational levels. This is done to prevent potential fraud and ensure that all funds deposited by the public are managed transparently and accountably. The government is fully committed to taking firm action against any violations to ensure a safe and comfortable pilgrimage for all pilgrims.
