The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemenkomdigi) emphasized that strengthening digital talent capabilities is a fundamental pillar for Indonesia to maintain its strategic position amid increasingly dynamic global technology competition. The quality of human resources is now viewed as a crucial asset determining a nation's success in adopting industrial structural changes, including the massive utilization of artificial intelligence.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday (5/7), stated that a country's excellence no longer depends solely on the availability of physical infrastructure. According to him, innovation capability and mastery of digital talent are the main determinants for Indonesia not to be just a technology consumer, but to be able to act as a creator in the world's digital ecosystem.
To respond to these challenges, Kemenkomdigi has initiated several strategic programs, one of which is the AI Talent Factory. This initiative is carried out through intensive synergy with various universities across the country, both on Java Island and other regions, in order to bridge the digital competency access gap and build an innovation ecosystem aligned with industry needs.
Nezar added that this program is not limited to technical training. The government also equips talents with a deep understanding of technology geopolitics dynamics and global digital economic shifts. With this comprehensive approach, the government is optimistic that Indonesia can improve national competitiveness and become an influential key player in the global technology supply chain in the future.
