The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) has responded to the social media uproar surrounding the non-strategic placement of several Red and White Village/Sub-district Cooperative (KDKMP) sites. Several of these cooperative facilities were found to be built in remote locations, ranging from forest areas and mountainous regions to spots near cemeteries.
Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono emphasized that his party has paid attention to public reports. According to him, public feedback will serve as material for in-depth evaluation to ensure that cooperative operations run at their maximum potential. He noted that despite negative narratives on social media, the proportion of problematic locations is very small compared to total construction.
Kemenkop data shows that out of the total target of 30,000 Kopdes Merah Putih sites, 14,000 units have reached 100 percent completion. Out of this total, Kemenkop identified fewer than 10 locations deemed less than ideal. The ministry is committed to immediately conducting field verification and validation to find the best solutions for the affected sites.
On the other hand, criticism also came from Member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Darmadi Durianto. He highlighted the need for careful planning in state asset placement to prevent wastefulness. Darmadi pointed out several specific findings in regions such as Wonogiri, Kendal, and Lamongan, where the cooperative locations were considered unsupportive of public accessibility and the operational effectiveness of the cooperatives themselves.
