The Ministry of Tourism, together with the Co-Branding partners of Wonderful Indonesia, has officially launched the "Holiday to Kampung Main" program as a creative initiative to fill the school holiday period. This program is designed to blend entertainment with educational elements, providing children with immersive experiences to explore Indonesia's rich culture and sustainability values.
Deputy Minister for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, explained that this program is part of the ongoing efforts to promote domestic tourism through the #DiIndonesiaAja campaign. Through a play-and-learn approach, it is hoped that the younger generation will become more familiar with the potential of tourism villages and the country's destination icons from an early age.
One of the main locations for this event is Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta, running from July 1 to 5, 2026. Visitors are treated to a series of interactive activities with daily rotating themes, ranging from gastronomy, maritime, design arts, to traditional textiles (wastra) and wellness. Popular activities such as 'Corn Adventure' invite children to practice processing agricultural products directly from the source.
For families outside of Jakarta, the Ministry of Tourism also provides digital access through a scavenger hunt game. Residents only need to scan the QR codes available at various partner destinations, such as HeHa Waterfall Bogor, HeHa Forest Sleman, Plaza Ambarrukmo, Plaza Malioboro, and Jatim Park Malang. This online game runs until July 5, 2026, serving as a tool for virtual exploration of tourism destinations.
Through this initiative, the Ministry of Tourism emphasizes the importance of early education in environmental preservation and local traditions. Immersive, fun experiences are considered the most effective method for children to grow up with a high appreciation for national identity and nature in every tourism destination they visit.
