Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Eko Hendro Purnomo, popularly known as Eko Patrio, paid his last respects to the late Rachmat Gobel. At the funeral home on Friday (10/7/2026), Eko expressed a deep sense of loss for the person he considered a guiding figure, both in the performing arts world and in the national political arena.
Eko shared that their relationship had been established long before he entered the legislative world. According to him, Rachmat Gobel was someone who provided moral support and direction when he was just starting his career in the country's entertainment industry. That guidance became an important foundation for Eko, enabling him to thrive as a renowned comedian with the comedy group Patrio.
Furthermore, Eko recounted that their closeness continued as both served in the DPR RI. For Eko, Rachmat Gobel was a mentor who was always open to discussing various strategic issues and national challenges. Their relationship went beyond being mere colleagues, reaching a personal level that extended to their extended families.
Rachmat Gobel reportedly passed away on Friday (10/7/2026) in the early hours at 03:20 WIB in Jakarta. The deceased is survived by his wife, Retno Damayanti, as well as two children and grandchildren. The body lay in state at his residence on Jalan Supomo, South Jakarta, before his planned burial in his hometown of Gorontalo.
