A somber atmosphere hangs over Krinjing Hamlet, Krinjing Village, Watumalang District, Wonosobo Regency. Turkini, a mother who works daily as a scrap collector, now faces a heavy trial after her youngest son, Arifin Nurohmat, was reported missing while hiking on Mount Bismo a week ago.
Almost every day, Turkini spends her time sitting lost in thought on the porch of her home. Her blank gaze is often directed toward the village road, waiting for her beloved child, who has shown no signs of returning. For her, every person passing in front of the house offers a glimmer of hope to see Arifin return safely.
"I haven't felt at peace since this happened. Thinking about his condition out there makes me lose my appetite. I can only hope and continue to offer prayers through mujahadah every night," Turkini said in a soft voice on Wednesday (8/7/2026).
Inside the modest house, memories of Arifin remain deeply palpable. A handcrafted guitar made by the teenager, who is currently a 12th-grade high school student, still hangs neatly on the living room wall. Arifin is known in his community as a creative individual who is active in scouting activities at his school.
