Mount Giyanti in Magelang Regency, Central Java, is once again attracting the attention of nature lovers with the presence of Gilimantren Peak. Unlike the Merah Putih Peak, which was previously known through the Malanggaten route, Gilimantren Peak offers the charm of the mountain's northern side, which is no less stunning.
Located at an altitude of 1,153 meters above sea level (masl), this peak offers a spectacular panorama to the northwest, where the majesty of Mount Sumbing, standing at 3,371 masl, is clearly visible. This destination is an attractive alternative for hikers who want a short climb but still wish to enjoy the beauty of the Central Java mountain landscape.
To start the hike, visitors are directed to Basecamp Anjraha, located in Plalar Hamlet, Genito Village, Windusari District. Access to this starting point is quite reachable from the center of Magelang City, with a distance of about 16.6 kilometers, taking around 35 to 45 minutes by private vehicle.
Prospective visitors should note that the road infrastructure leading to Basecamp Anjraha has limited access for four-wheeled vehicles. The main parking area at the end of Plalar Hamlet can only accommodate motorcycles, while for car drivers, parking space is available in the local village area. To date, there is no direct public transportation service to the hiking start point, so hikers are advised to use private vehicles to ensure a comfortable journey.
